Coached like a teacher. Taught like a coach.
The Standard Athletics builds training programs for young athletes the way good curriculum is built: clear goals, the right sequence and lessons that fit real life.
Why The Standard
The Standard Athletics was built by a coach and educator with 15 years of coaching experience and 11 years in the classroom, a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education with a minor in Coaching, and a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction.
After years on the field and in the classroom, one thing kept coming up: athletes get coached on the physical side all year, but the mental side is usually left to chance. Players hear “relax” and “shake it off” without ever being taught how.
The Standard exists to close that gap with programs that combine exercise science, psychology and the day-to-day reality of coaching young athletes, and that are simple enough to actually use.
What you can count on.
Built like curriculum
Every program has clear goals, a deliberate sequence, and lessons sized for a real practice week.
Honest about the research
Lessons are labeled by the strength of the evidence behind them, with sources listed.
Written for the age
Ten-year-olds and seventeen-year-olds need different words. Every edition is written for its age group.
What’s next
The Mental Game for softball and baseball is the first line. The Standard Athletics is built to cover athletic training across sports, so more sport-specific programs are on the way.
